Black Denim Kilt.

100% Cotton, with one back pocket for your wallet , two side cargo pockets for all your small bits and Mobile phone etc.

Hems and all pleats are sewn all the way down and around to keep the shape.

Side adjustment belts for a more snug fit and belt loops for your normal jeans style belt (see belts section).
It hangs beautifully and looks fantastic and is very easy to manage and clean, they can be machine washed at low temperature however we recommend dry cleaning for best results.

Please Note! When you measure yourself tofind your waist size make sure you measure around your true waist Naval / bellybutton as our cut in design is done for wearing the kilt around the waist notthe hips or where you wear your trousers.

Do not order your kilt from your trouserwaist size.

Once you have found your true waist size toget the correct length kneel to the floor and measure from your true waist tothe floor with your back upright / straight.

If you want to wear your kilt lower on thehips or between the waist and hips measure your preferred place and again fromthat measurement kneel to the floor for the length we can then bespoke your hipfitting kilt for you, with a turn around of approximately 2 weeks.(out of peakperiod)

This is a well made kilt that gives the impression of quality. The cloth is just the right weight to hang properly, be secure, give good movement and with good stitching on all the folds and creases so it irons easily. The fittings are nicely finished with a bronze colour that looks like it will last although the doubled up cloth straps may prove a little weak in time.
I would advise caution with your measuring up though. I measured a true 34" around my navel as advised but I have found the kilt is snug around my hips which are wider than my waist. I adjusted the two side buckles to give more room but this allowed the front apron to splay out, spoiling the lines. I would have liked to try on a 36" waist and used a tighter belt but I could not be bothered with all the posting and returning. Anyway I am happy with how it looks and I am able to have my belt a bit looser than I would normally need.
I wear my kilt with an Army webbing Pistol belt which gives a strong look without the massive buckle that a 2" leather belt has. I found a normal width jeans size belt looked too small in the wide belt loops.
The thing that bothered me though was that there are no labels on the back pockets as shown in the photos. I emailed about this and was told they just don't do them. I am currently hoping they will supply a second loose label same as inside the waistband so I can sew this on the pocket flap myself.
I was kept well informed of my orders' progress and was pleased to receive the UnionKilt tee-shirt for free. All considered I am happy with the whole result and would certainly buy again.

My experience is, that when you once wear a casual kilt, you feel uncomfortable with jeans and trousers. It just feel clumsy to wear, specially when you get used to wear the kilt the commando way.

Overall a good piece of clothing. I'd not worn a kilt for 40 years but since getting it (three weeks ago) I've only worn trousers once.

I bought it because I fancied wearing a kilt for my first ever 10k race. Got quite a lot of people cheering me on.

On the downside, the material used in the side adjustment belts is too flimsy to handle the eyelets for the buckles. Strengthening these with some iron-on material and replacing the eyelets seems to have fixed the problem. I will probably replace straps and buckles with new material and velcro fastening.

I'll be buying from Union Kilts again.

My first entry in to the world of kilts.
If you are tempted to try, i would advise trying on all sizes in the shop around your waist measurement, as they are all different by a wide margin.

BEWARE.........
Once you wear a casual kilt, jeans and trousers feel uncomfortable and clumsy to wear.
I now have this one and two leather kilts.
Will be adding a camo one and another black denim one as i find that i am wearing them on a daily basis now.
